Senator Greig also said it would be counterproductive if both he and fellow NatashaStott Despoja-supporter Senator Andrew Bartlett ran for the leadership.
Senator Bartlett is still considering his options.
"That would split the vote between the sort of Democrat within the party who is likelyto support either of us," Senator Greig said.
However Senator Greig also said it was unfair to label him as being in the same campas Senator Bartlett.
"Despite acknowledging I'm a Senator Stott Despoja supporter, I don't believe it'sfair to label me as being in that camp, I am my own person," he said.
"I am kind of trying to work as a bridge between what has become two tribes."
Senator Greig is also open to the suggestion of a moderator helping the Democrats solvetheir current problems.
He said Senator Allison had raised the issue with him.
"Personally I'm not so sure that it could be effective but I'm prepared to be open-mindedabout it and I want to talk further to Senator Allison about that to see if we can't cometo an agreement," Senator Greig said.
