Fed: ATO at loss to explain missing memo paragraph
CANBERRA, Feb 9 AAP - The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) said today it could not
explain how a reference to possible criminal behaviour in tax audits appeared in an internal
memo but was mysteriously missing from a copy.
Senate Economics References Committee chairman, Labor senator Shane Murphy said the
paragraph was missing in a copy of the February 1998 memo submitted to the committee,
but included in a copy obtained by the ALP.
