NT: Garrett approves MRM zinc mine expansion
Work has resumed at one of the world's largest zinc mines in the Northern Territory
.. following a decision by the Federal Government to approve its controversial expansion.
But there are already calls for the McArthur River Mine decision to be reversed ..
with environmentalists saying it ignores the wishes of the local Aboriginal community.
Work on the 110 million dollar expansion stopped on December 17 .. after the Federal
Court found the previous Howard government had botched its approval process.
