NSW: Teen dies while riding pillion on motorcycle
SYDNEY, Aug 15 AAP - A teenager has died while riding pillion on a motorbike in central NSW
The 18-year-old died at the scene of the crash after the motorbike he was in veered
onto the wrong side of Putty Road, Colo at 9.30am (AEST) on Saturday.
Police say the teenager hit a guard rail on the road, falling off the bike.
The motorbike's driver, a 47-year-old man, stopped the bike a short distance away and
tried to help, but the teenager died from spine and head injuries.
A group of other motorbike riders were present at the scene.
"The rider was taken to Hawkesbury Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests," a
police statement said.
"Putty Road has been closed as local police and forensics specialists continue their
inquiries into the cause of the incident.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn't already spoken with investigating officers
is urged to contact Windsor Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
Diversions were set up around Putty Road and the road is expected to reopen on Saturday
afternoon.
